Breath of Life

A CINEMATIC JOURNEY OF LOVE IN THE NOLLYWOOD INDUSTRY

Produced By: Eku Edewor

Directed By: Bodunrin Sasore

Breath of Life isn’t just an ordinary name, it signifies the undying love of a mentor for a young man, whom he greatly loved and who became like his own son. A man giving his breath(life) to a person because of the fatherly love he had for that person. This movie can play as evidence that the Nollywood industry is evolving and giving light to Christian-based movies, showing a deep connection between the love of God and the love of man.

Breath of Life tells the story of Timi, gifted with the talent of speaking many languages and unafraid to fight against injustice and corruption. Unfortunately, his strength became his weakness which led to the brutal murder of his family. The key to his happiness was his new mentee, Elijah who later became his house manager. He (Elijah) is a strong man of faith who loves God. He is seen as the light in Timi’s dark tunnel. Which he did not accept as the story began, but later changed as they spent more time with each other, and their relationship can now be seen as the cutest father-and-son relationship. This led from being strangers to becoming the best father and son.

A very popular scene was when the church that Mr Timi built before he stopped believing in God was to be demolished by Anna’s father, but Elijah refused to let that happen because it was the temple of God. So, Elijah tried raising money to pay for it from not getting destroyed but he didn’t get up to the amount he was still zealous and prayed to God about it. Mr. Timi later went and stopped the building from getting demolished because he didn’t have the legal papers approved by him and saw that Elijah had a great love for God and he remembered how he was also like Elijah when he was younger.

This scene shows that Mr. Timi also had a great love for Elijah and supported his dream of spreading the word of God

A very popular scene in the movie that portrays the deep love that Timi had for Elijah was when Elijah was very ill because his asthma had gotten to a very bad stage, and he had a very high chance of dying but Mr. Timi did everything he could with every penny he had to sustain his health but didn’t work. He prayed to God in the church to give Elijah his breath of life because he knew that Elijah still had to accomplish a lot of things before, he died, and he also had a woman whom Elijah loved very much and Mr. Timi couldn't bear to see that. God granted his prayer and Elijah was well.

Mr Timi also gave Elijah all this wealth and his home for him and his true love to start a life there.

This is an adorable relationship that no one can argue, and it shows that true love can go beyond any limit and makes you do the craziest things that one can never believe. This is a true example of if you love someone, you can go the extra mile.
